My Personalized Learning syllabus

  1. Lori,
WOW....You really have this planned out. I like the chart on the explanations of the different PD's. I was especially interested in the one about keeping students in class. I previously worked at a middle school where there was a teacher who would "kick" students out of class because they didn't have a pencil---CRAZY. I will post more comments tomorrow as I want to do some research on moving from teacher centric to student centric. I really appreciated the constructive and thoughtful comments you made referencing my plan...I want to be able to do the same for you :-) I will post more tomorrow.

  2. I agree with Talissa. This is well-planned. A couple of questions: would this be a mandatory event or do teachers have a say as to whether or not they want to attend? I think you have put together a great plan, but you know that there are those who are set in their ways. How do you combat that mind set? You know, the person who sits there with his/her hands crossed in front of his/her chest with the "I don't care what you say, I'm not buying it" expression on his/her face?I applaud you for wanting to tackle this very necessary dynamic shift.

  3. The PL is mandatory a directive from the District, it is part of the strategic plan for 2018. As far as combating the less enthusiastic teachers, I am not going to worry about the m right now. I am concentrating on light a fire in those who want to this type of work. They will be the first trained and the lead teachers of the future. Hopefully, once the others see how that the concept really works, they will join the PL movement. As my principal likes to say the Personalized Learning train has left hte station, wither you get on board or it runs you over.
